Marma Chikithsa

Vital Parts (Jeevasthanam) is the meaning of Sensorium sound. Totally there are 107 sensoriums in our body. In legs & hands there are 11 x 4 = 44 nos., Stall 3 nos, abdominal portion 9 nos., ridge part 14 nos., above the neck 37 nos. Sensorium is the joining part of flesh, bones, nerves, veins, blood vessels & muscles. So these portions plays an important role in our life. These 107 sensoriums can be divided into 6, and they are flesh sensoriums 10nos., bone sensoriums 8nos., nerve sensorium 23nos., vein sensoriums 9nos., Blood cell sensoriums 37nos., and muscular sensoriums 20nos. If complaints caused by sensorium dent, 19 sensoriums causes death suddenly so it is Sadhyognam, 33 sensoriums causes death after some periods so it is Kalantharagnam, 3 sensoriums causes death if pinprick is removed so it is Vishalyaganam, 44 sensoriums causes handicap so it is Vaikalyam, and 8 sensoriums causes pains so it is Rujaakaranam. So if a person was wounded deeply where there is no sensoriums patient will live and if the same wound causes on any of the sensorium part patient will die. So ayurvedic treatment plays an important role in our life.

UZHICHIL (MASSAGE)

Uzhichil is a rare and special treatment of Kunnathuvalappil Vaidyasramam. Herbal oils are used and is very effective for rheumatic diseases like Arthritis, Paralysis, Hemiplegia, Nervous disorders, Nervous weakness and Sexual weakness.

In uzhichil, one or two therapists continuously apply warm medicated oils over the body in a special rhythmic way for about 20 to 30 minutes each day for a period of 7 to 21 days.

KIZHI

In the Kizhi treatment powder of herbal leaves are prepared in bags of muslin cloths and is applied all over the body. It is very effective for arthritis and spondylosis and various sports related injuries.

A kizhi is prepared using powders of herbal leaves in a bag of muslin cloth. This is dipped in warm medicated oils and applied on whole body, or specified parts for 20 to 30 minutes each day for a period of 7 to 14 days.
NJAVARAKIZHI

Njavarakizhi is a type of massage, in which the whole body is rubbed with a bag of muslin clothes containing njavara rice. It is highly recommended for paralysis, joint pains and nourishing soft tissues.
Njavarakizhi is a special massage program. The whole body or a part of it is made to perspire; by the external application of njavara rice puddings tied in muslin bags and dipped in a mixture of warm milk and decoctions. Two therapists apply this for 20 to 30 minutes per day for a period of 14 or 21 days. Patients with rheumatism, pain in the joints, emaciation of limbs, cholesterol, certain kinds of skin diseases, sexual weakness, nervous weakness and nervous disorders are taking advantage of this treatment.

RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS
This is the vatha with swollen joints, numbness, redness, pain, heat and fever.

OBESITY
This is unusually fatty condition of the body.

APABAHU
This is difficulty in moving and raising the arms due to Vatha affecting the shoulder joints.

ARDITAM
This is the vatha in which the face is twisted; eyelids won’t be closed in full. As the mouth is twisted spitting won’t be straight and will affect the hearing also.

HEMIPLGIA
Any side of the body becoming paralyzed and losing its power to move and feel is called by this name.

SACROILLIAC PAIN
Pains at low back & legs results from inflammation of the sacroiliac joint.

ANEMIA
Blood less accompanied by symptoms like weakness of limbs, palpitation, dropsy, giddiness and exhaustion is called anemia.

COUGH
It is the nature to spit out kapha and other doshas in the respiratory channel.

LEUCORRHOEA
This is the discharge of a viscid fluid from the vagina.

GONNORRHOEA
This is the putrid discharge from the urinary channel, with severe pain during urination.

INFERTILITY
Inability to conceive a child.

DYSPEPSIA
When the digestive fire lacks the power to digest the normal food or its digestion is long delayed, it is agnimandhyam or dyspepsia.

CONSTIPATION
Hard stools and a lot of strain to bring it out characterize this.

GULMAN (HYPER ACIDITY)
An irregular dietary habit, fried spicy foods, causes wind collection in the belly that causes pain, constipation and indigestion.
