Summary: INDUSTRY OVERVIEW ================= The NGV industry is rapidly growing and playing a vital role in reducing emission for giving more cleaner and friendly environment worldwide and particularly in Asia with a highest industry growth recorded as above as 49% as compare to global growth rate of 30.6% only. Pakistan has abundant natural gas reserves and today almost 74% energy demands met locally. However, the countrys gas reserves are not likely to meet the growing demand and an energy gap is emerging, resulting in shortages by 2010 and beyond. Whereas, the alternative energy industries, especially the CNG Industry has progressed well during last 5-years and it is a great honour for Pakistan to become the second largest NGVs user in the world besides being No.1 in Asia with over 1693 CNG Fuelling Stations and 1.6 million NGVs on the road. Karachi, the largest city and main business hub of Pakistan is now introducing the largest Bus Fleet with an introduction of 8,000 CNG Dedicated Buses for commuters. This new era would enable the Karachi City District Government in improving cleaner & safer environment for the city which takes Pakistan into new heights in worldwide NGV Industry. Approx 12,000 conversion of vehicles to CNG every month and there are some 4,000 Factory Fitted CNG Cars are finding their way to the roads from the local assembly plant in addition to 5,000 CNG dedicated Rickshaws soon introducing in Lahore City with an investment of USD 13,833 under provincial Green Fund Programme. Further, it is estimated that approx Rs.60 billion investments have been made so far in CNG-NGV Industry with a creation of 60,000 new jobs and more to come with an addition of 400 new CNG filling stations in new fiscal year 2007-08. On the other hand Pakistani Engineers and Scientists are playing significant role in improving Pakistans economic viability however presently the major CNG Equipments are being imported from Italy, Argentina, U.K, USA, and China etc. As demands growing for cost-effective and quality made CNG Products & Equipments, the Pakistani Engineers have now started manufacturing and marketing Made in Pakistan labeled quality CNG Products worldwide relatively in smaller scale but if government encourages and facilitate, these smaller scale manufacturing units can bring new revolution in NGV industry in Pakistan.
